Fortnite continues its dynamic evolution with each significant update. While the core Battle Royale mode constantly reinvents itself through seasonal changes, the game’s popular side experiences, such as LEGO Fortnite, also receive frequent updates and dedicated content. A recent major crossover event even sparked the creation of an entirely new mode based on the building-block survival sandbox.
Beyond its initial Odyssey experience, LEGO Fortnite now offers various ways to play, including LEGO Fortnite Brick Life and a collection of creative maps. With Fortnite’s massive Star Wars season currently underway, another brand-new mode has just debuted, bringing its own unique twist to the LEGO formula. Here’s everything you need to know about the LEGO Fortnite Rapid Survival mode.
Welcome to Rapid Survival
LEGO Fortnite Rapid Survival presents a multiplayer variation of the standard LEGO Fortnite experience, set on a condensed, Star Wars-themed island map. In this mode, players can quickly matchmake and drop in with up to seven other participants, landing on an island where they have the freedom to explore, build, and interact as they see fit.
The core gameplay feels largely familiar to LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, allowing players to craft most items available in the standard mode. However, Rapid Survival gives participants a head start by providing a starting loadout that includes essential tools, resources, and notably, a Lightsaber right from the beginning. But don’t let the familiarity fool you – there are some significant deviations from the norm.
What Makes Rapid Survival Different?
Several key differences set Rapid Survival apart from other LEGO Fortnite modes:
- PvP is Enabled: Unlike the default Survival mode, player-versus-player combat is turned on. Since you’ll be matched with other players online, you’ll need to decide whether to cooperate to survive or engage in battle against each other.
- Limited Building & Social Features: Village Squares and Villagers are not present in this mode. Additionally, your building options are restricted to the specific LEGO Build Sets you currently own in your account.
- Session-Based Progress: Custom worlds are not supported, meaning any progress you make within a Rapid Survival session is temporary. Each session lasts a maximum of four hours. Once the session concludes or you leave, all your accumulated progress will be lost.
- Faster Cycles & No Fast Travel: The day and night cycles are significantly sped up, adding an extra layer of challenge. Furthermore, the ability to fast travel via the Bus Station is disabled.
- Permadeath: This is perhaps the most impactful rule change. If a player is eliminated – whether by another player, Stormtroopers, wildlife, or environmental hazards – and they do not possess a rare Totem of Return item, they will be sent straight back to the lobby, ending their participation in that session.
You can find LEGO Fortnite Rapid Survival listed in the “By Epic” section when Browse Fortnite experiences from the main menu. If you have trouble locating it there, simply use the search tab next to “Play” and type “Rapid Survival”.
Earning XP and Rewards
Beyond its unique gameplay rules that make it an interesting mode to explore, LEGO Fortnite Rapid Survival also offers a rewarding way to earn XP. In addition to the standard Playtime XP gained simply by playing, the mode features a special set of “Try Rapid Survival” quests. Completing these specific challenges grants a substantial total of 240,000 XP. On top of that, daily quests are available, providing an extra 3,000 XP each day you play.

These quests typically involve straightforward tasks that can often be completed passively as you play, but you can also track them to monitor your progress more easily. Earning this considerable amount of XP makes trying out Rapid Survival even more worthwhile, allowing players to quickly level up their current Battle Passes or other progression systems.
How Long Will Rapid Survival Be Available?
LEGO Fortnite Rapid Survival made its debut on May 16, 2025, but players should be aware that this mode is not a permanent addition. Rapid Survival is a limited-time event currently scheduled to run from May 16 until May 27 at 9 AM ET. While it’s only available for a short period now, there is always a good possibility that the mode could return in the future based on player reception.
