Discovering a Hidden Path: How to Get the Secret Sigismund Ending in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is known for its deep role-playing mechanics, offering players numerous surprises, branching questlines with multiple outcomes, and impactful choices that shape their personal journey. Beyond the main endings determined by your overall playthrough, the game features unique moments and even alternative “game over” scenarios not tied to Henry’s death or specific objective failures. Around three-quarters of the way into your adventure, there’s a particularly notable hidden ending involving the game’s primary antagonist, King Sigismund.

Warning: This guide contains spoilers for “The King’s Gambit” quest and information about the historical fate of King Sigismund of Hungary.

Unlocking the Early Sigismund Ending

King Sigismund of Hungary serves as a central figure of conflict in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance saga, being the driving force behind the turmoil in the Bohemian lands during 1403. Given Henry’s alignment against Sigismund, the King’s demise at this point in history would, arguably, resolve many of the problems Henry and his companions face. This is the premise behind the secret ending you can uncover.

The opportunity to trigger this hidden outcome arises during “The King’s Gambit” quest. This mission follows on from “Taking French Leave” and requires Henry to infiltrate a council meeting in Kuttenberg to uncover King Sigismund’s plans. To gain access, Henry must go undercover as a servant.

The Infiltration and Obtaining the Dagger

During the council meeting, your primary task as a servant is to serve wine and avoid drawing attention. However, there will be specific moments when Henry is called upon for a favor. The first of these requests comes from Bailiff Andreas Plumel, who will ask Henry to retrieve a confiscated goblet from his office. It is crucial that you agree to help him.

To locate the Bailiff’s office, head into the chapel adjacent to where you are serving wine. Turn right and proceed through a door. You will find the requested chalice on a table inside. However, the key item for the secret ending is located further inside the office. Continue towards the desk at the end, and you will find a dagger hidden within a scroll of parchment.

It is imperative that you find and equip this dagger to proceed towards the secret ending.

If you somehow miss this initial opportunity with Bailiff Plumel, you might get a second chance later when Franz Rosenthal asks Henry to fetch his gloves. This provides a final window to access the office and retrieve the dagger before the door is locked for good after the next stage of the mission. Rosenthal might also ask Henry to count the angels in the chapel; providing the correct answer of twenty-four can help Henry maintain his cover and avoid suspicion.

Executing the Plan and Witnessing the Aftermath

Once you have successfully obtained the dagger, the opportunity to use it arises later in the quest. After King Sigismund makes his arrival, a cutscene will play, followed by a switch in perspective to focus on Godwin’s part of the quest at Raborsch. When Godwin’s section is complete, control will return to Henry.

With the dagger equipped, you can now attempt to eliminate King Sigismund. Carefully sneak behind him and perform a stealth kill action (typically by holding A/Cross on a controller or E on the keyboard). Notably, Patch 1.3 introduced a new, special animation specifically for this significant moment of regicide.

Upon successfully assassinating the King, you will be presented with a unique message on screen:

THE END… You killed King Sigismund, although you died at his guard’s hands shortly after. King Wenceslas soon returned to the Bohemian throne, Jan Hus was never burned at the stake, and the Hussite Wars never took place.

This ending is a fascinating “what if” scenario, showing Henry dramatically altering the course of history. The real King Sigismund of Hungary lived for many more decades, eventually dying in 1437. This outcome, while impactful within the game’s narrative possibilities, is not a canonical ending that allows you to continue playing. You will need to reload your most recent save game to resume the main story path. However, discovering and triggering this secret ending is a memorable and fun historical detour for any player in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
